Using the HNA Yahoo Group/Forum
To receive emails from a Yahoo group/forum, to post messages on the forum (i.e.,
email the membership-at-large) and to reply to individual members, you do
not need a Yahoo ID or email address.
You only need a Yahoo ID if you want to:
-
view files stored in the Files section of
the forum (past
meeting minutes, archived newsletters, etc.)
-
view archived
messages (emails posted before you joined the forum)
-
participate in online
polls
-
view the group's online
calendar
-
and other features
Even after setting up a Yahoo ID for viewing the archived messages, files, polls,
calendar, etc., note that you may still use any email address you wish
for delivery of group emails.
Setting your preferred email address
If you set up a Yahoo ID when you joined the group,
this means that Yahoo also created an email account for you. If you
are receiving group emails at the Yahoo address but you would prefer them
delivered to a different email address, follow the steps indicated on the
Yahoo account pages below.
-
First, add an
alternate email for your Yahoo account. Go to this page:
http://groups.yahoo.com/member/preferences/email/view,
click the text "Add/Remove Email Address," then follow the prompts to enter
another email address. Yahoo will send a verification email to the
alternate email address. Once you verify, your alternate email address
will be added to your Yahoo account.
-
Next, set your
preferred email address for where you want emails from your Yahoo Group
delivered. Go to this page: http://groups.yahoo.com/mygroups,
click "Edit My Groups" then select your preferred email address from the
drop-down menu in the "Email Address" column.
Posting a message to the membership
Send an email to
hilltopneighborhood@yahoogroups.com
Replying to an individual member
When group emails arrive from the Yahoo forum, the sender will appear as
something like this:
hilltopneighborhood@yahoogroups.com on behalf of John Doe [john^doe@domain^name.com]
To reply to John Doe directly, rather than to the entire membership, copy
and paste John's address (john^doe@domain^name.com) into a new email,
instead of replying to the all-member email address.
In most cases, it's best to send your replies to the all-member address so
that everyone can read your comments and respond with their own.
Changing email delivery type & frequency
If you are feeling overwhelmed by the number of group emails
arriving in your inbox each day, here are some options for you:
Option 1
Change your email
delivery from "individual emails" to "daily digest" -- then you will get
delivery of group emails in one bulk download only once a day (instead of
one-at-a-time all day long).

http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/groups/original/members/manage/manage-16.html
Option 2
Most email programs
allow you to set up filters so that emails from a source you specify can be
automatically routed to a subfolder. Microsoft Outlook has this feature, as
does Yahoo and other online email services. Once you set up a filter,
all incoming group emails are placed into a subfolder so that your Inbox
stays less crowded.
Tip: You might want to use the filter settings in addition to the Yahoo
"daily digest" option. Then your group emails will come in only once a day
and they will automatically be routed into the subfolder you specified
rather than your Inbox.

Option 3
Remove email delivery
all together. Then you can go online at your convenience and read
message posts on the Yahoo site. Where to read messages online:

Tip: If you opt to read messages online, note that you can "group by topic"
to consolidate the display into specific discussion threads. Then you
don’t have to open up any topics which do not interest you. How to:
