The Hilltop Neighborhood Association
The Hilltop Neighborhood Association (HNA) is a non-profit, all-volunteer
organization dedicated to developing community awareness in and about the
Hilltop neighborhood. Originally founded in 1970 by Jerry Brancato and
Alex Santora, the
organization has been headed up by Richie Boggiano since 1978.
The HNA has continually sought to improve the area. From the mundane aspects of
clean-up campaigns, to the complicated issues of historic preservation,
zoning, and urban planning, the Association serves as a guardian and
spokesperson of the neighborhood.
While the HNA represents
the Hilltop area of Jersey City specifically, they do pay heed to issues
affecting other neighborhoods in the vicinity. Issues affecting
the greater Journal Square area may directly or indirectly impact Hilltop,
so the organization remains engaged with city officials on a number of Jersey City
initiatives and concerns.
There are no mandatory dues or fees for the HNA, however, donations of
any amount are welcome. They are a 501(c)3 non-profit, so all donations
are tax-deductible.
The HNA mission:
-
To address community needs, and to
work with city officials and neighborhood residents toward solutions.
-
To serve as a clearing house of
information for the neighborhood.
-
To preserve the character for the
neighborhood for generations to come.
